  15. SYMPTOMS

  18. When you run NTBACKUP from a command line, setting the parameter /B (backup
  19. the registry) fails to properly back up the registry. The command excutes
  20. and properly backs up the files in the path specified, but the registry
  21. files WILL NOT be backed up.
  22.  
  23. Using the Administrative Tools Backup program correctly backs up the
  24. registry files.
  25.  
  26. WORKAROUND
  27. ==========
  28.  
  29. To work around this problem, do one the following:
  30.  
  31.  - Back up the registry files interactively by selecting the Backup Local
  32.    Registry option in the Administrative Tools Backup program.
  33.  
  34. -or-
  35.  
  36.  - Use the Windows NT Resource Kit utility REGBACK from the command line or
  37.    in batch files.
  38.  
  39. STATUS

  42. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT
  43. Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and will post
  44. new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
  45. available.
